A New Lift For An Old Bathtub
Before each taping of my weekly “Gadgets” feature, I set up and test the product on the set and show each cameraman the angles I want for them to shoot during the segment. I have never gotten such a reaction from them as I did when I demonsrated The Archemedes Bath Lift…it seemed everyone knew someone that really needed this unique device…a brother with a broken ankle..a dad with arthritis..a grandmother that needed help getting into the bathtub to bathe. They had never seen anything like it and I’m glad that I introduced it to them.
The Archemedes Bath Lift can lower and raise a person up to 330 lbs. into the tub.
That may sound simple, but to thousands of people afraid of falling as they negotiate the 15″-21″ that are the sides of the tub, it’s a miracle. Bathrooms are extremely expensive to convert, yet it is usually the bathroom that is the reason most have to eventually move out of a house that has been a home for decades. The Archemedes Bath Lifts are a very simple solution to this problem. And it works.
Within 5 minutes, you can assemble the three pieces and place it in the rear of your tub.The rubberized suction cups act as feet and secure it immediately. At full height, one of the side flaps flips down to the tub side to give a “slide” over to the seat. You simply push the down button on the waterproof remote control to lower into the tub.
The remote control disconnects from the chair and the power charger cord attaches to it. The battery is actually in the remote so you connect the AC outlet to the remote to charge it then disconnect to hook it up to the seat..there’s never any direct line current connected to the chair. An LED lets you know if it needs to be recharged and through protective circuitry, will never allow you to be lowered into the tub unless there’s enough power to raise you back up again.
As the chair lowers, the sides of the chair will move slightly up to fit any tub, although I’ve never seen a tub that would be too narrow to fit the chair entirely without having to do this..and you won’t lose leg room since the chair design fits to the far rear of the tub..it’s very confortable. (See the video..I’m 5′10″ and 200 lbs.).
It’s also very portable, in case you want to take the bath tub lift in or out frequently, or even take it with you on a trip.
This is a well built unit that has an excellent design, and can benefit many folks. Although the price is a fraction of what it would cost to modify your current bathroom..it gives freedom again to those that have not been able to enjoy the simple pleasure of a warm bath. And those simple pleasures are priceless.
