The New Improved TV Ears

TV Ears is a product that was designed specifically for making television listening an individual and independent listening experience. Each person can adjust the volume and tone of the television soundtrack through wireless headphones, and better understand TV dialog, which so often gets muffled in the sound effects and background music. It does all this so elegantly, you don’t know you’ve been wearing it.

That’s what it was designed for…not music, or for video games, or for any other purpose, just TV listening.

This was exactly the product I was searching for. My father-in-law blasts the TV to a point; no one can talk in the room with him. I love to watch football games with him, but it can get tough for two full quarters. I have to leave the room. I found TV Ears , it solved my Dad’s problem and now, thousands across the country are finding a new, peaceful experience in their dens and entertainment rooms.

Finding TV Ears

It has been almost three years since I called George Dennis, the president of TV Ears, after researching audiologists and the products they recommend to patients. TV Ears had already been a staple in over 1,200 audiologists across the country, in fact, it was the number one product they prescribed for TV listening.

In discussing TV Ears with George, he had been motivated to develop the product due to the same reason I had…his Dad. He started with regular wireless headphones, but they didn’t help. They were a little louder, but very distorted…and they were uncomfortable.

TV Ears is a well designed product, easy to install, and really works.

Over the last three years, together, George and I have been listening to customers and have taken their recommendations to make the product even better, creating a huge improvement at an even lower cost with the help of my friend, audio engineer, Steffen Meeks.

There is no better product than the new TV Ears, and at $99.95, it’s really a great value.

So, if you’re ready to learn about what TV Ears does, read on…but if you want to hear about the new improvements only, watch my video on the new TV Ears.

Why TV Ears Works

Moderate hearing loss, as we get older, is a natural occurrence, and it isn’t just the perception of volume that’s affected. Because we lose certain audio frequencies and tones, certain parts of the audio spectrum, particularly the high frequencies, are lost while others, the lower frequencies, tend to muffle the rest of what we hear.

Our sense of direction is even lessened. One ear hears differently than the other creating a perceptual imbalance. And so, in order to make all sounds clearer, a stereo or multi-soundtrack has to be converted back to one channel or monophonic. This is where TV Ears starts to make TV sound better and why regular headphones won’t work.

Now, the audio signal is equalized to really accentuate the voices talking on the TV. This is very similar to taking your tone controls on your audio receiver and adjusting them so that the piano really stands out in the music.

Now that the television audio is processed, it must be amplified.

TV Ears goes beyond most every headphone on the market, creating a volume level that is much louder than most amplified headphones…up to 120 decibels. This is a huge jump since the competition only delivers about 88-90 db maximum levels. Remember, this is designed for those with a hearing loss, which unfortunately, gets progressively worse. TV Ears is designed to be a long-term usage product delivering years of high performance…you’ll want this extra power.

The new TV Ears is built in the same factories that build high end audio components and loudspeakers…there’s no ‘cut corners’ in the design, from the circuit boards to the cantilevered arms that bend to fit perfectly in your ears, or when taking a rest, around your neck. The new TV Ears will last for years. That’s why it’s designed for a replaceable, rechargeable battery. Like most rechargeable batteries, over time, the battery loses its maximum energy level and becomes less powerful, resulting in less operational time. Usually, they’re good for 8-10 hours, however, as you continually recharge it, that time will lessen over the years. Since most television watching lasts three to six hours, the only way to get the best performance, and insure a long playing time is to get a new battery .

You’ll want to replace it… which you can do with TV Ears.

When you do, TV Ears is so simple, just unscrew two screws and put on a new faceplate that includes the batteries…it takes less than a commercial break to make the change.

I bought a Bell & Howell TV Headset and opened it up. The battery is hardwired and can’t be replaced. When the battery gets worn down from too much recharging, you’ll have to throw away the headset. Image on right shows the Bell & Howell unit on the left as compared to the new TV Ears 2 on the right.

Making It Better

The fun in product development is taking your product, listening to users, and using their real world recommendations to make it better.

Your comments made the new TV Ears even more practical, and a better performer. Here’s how we improved it.

- A new frequency — 2.3 MHz

The original TV Ears operated on the 95 KHz frequency, like the other units on the market. The reason for this is that some theaters transmit their soundtracks on this frequency. However, operating the headset in your home which has many appliances that can sometimes interfere with their performance, can cause static and crackling. This is particularly a problem with fluorescent lighting and the new flat panel TVs. The new TV Ears is clear as a bell…no static…and when you get that new HDTV; your TV Ears will work and be as clear as your TV’s picture.

- Revolutionary Ear Tips for Comfort and Performance

A material was designed for the military that was used for the protection of combatant’s ears…specifically for tank commanders. It virtually seals the ear canal from outside sound by using body heat to make the ‘earplug’ conform perfectly to your ear.

Using this technology, TV Ears has designed new ‘ear tips’ that not only make it so comfortable to wear, you’ll forget they’re on, but also “funnels” the processed audio into your ear with no loss…it actually makes the headphone sound incredibly realistic. You can only find this technology on TV Ears…and on no other commercially available TV headphone.

- Quick Charger

The game starts in an hour…your headset is dead!

No problem. This new turbo-technology charges your headset up to ten hours of listening time in just one hour. However, get a second headset and never have a problem.

Finally…my apologies.

I know I sound very biased, and I am.

My friends have put their vast experiences in this area to work and have improved an already excellent product.

And at $99.00, you’re saving $50.00 from the original which let’s you take the Mrs. out to dinner.

It’s a high performance product, remarkably engineered, and really makes life better at a great price.

My father-in-law loves it…not just because it’s sorta my baby…It’s kickoff time.

We’ll see ya after the game.
